Senator Black’s Office Responds

Thank you for your message regarding the proposed Dominion power lines. Senator Black and Delegate Bob Marshall have spearheaded the effort to block above ground power lines going through certain neighborhoods going through the Haymarket and Gainesville areas. This issue has been a top priority for them because they believe in preserving these neighborhoods.

Senator Black has co-sponsored Delegate Marshall’s bills concerning overhead transmission lines and will be supportive of all the measures to stop these lines running through our neighborhoods. In fact, they have conducted public meetings, written a joint letter to the CEO of Amazon and Dominion Power, and encouraged local officials to join with community activists in a massive display of public support to oppose the original plans. Most recently, with the help of Senator Richard Stewart, Senator Black and Delegate Marshall have conducted closed door negotiations with Dominion Power and those negotiations have been very productive.

Senator Black is determined to do everything within his power to protect the citizens whose property would be adversely impacted by the proposed power line project. I know he appreciates your support on this important issue and looks forward to working with you to resolve this for the residents of Haymarket.

Warm regards,
