Ramadan and Hugo Host Town Hall

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Over the last several weeks, I have talked to many of you regarding what course of action should be taken on the proposal to put high-capacity power lines in the Haymarket area.

On Thursday night, Delegate Tim Hugo (40th – R) and I hosted a joint TeleTown Hall conference to discuss this issue, and answer questions from our constituents whom would be affected. More than seven hundred households participated in the tele-conference. We updated those on the call with our continuous efforts to engage the State Corporation Commission (SCC) and Dominion while we are down here in Richmond.

Further, we updated participants on the status of HB2356, which unfortunately did not make it out of the House Special Subcommittee on Energy. Delegate Hugo and I were chief co-patrons on that bill.

As you are probably aware, this is an ongoing and developing proposal by Dominion to the SCC. The SCC is the decision maker, approving any plans to construct power lines through proposals submitted by energy companies. I will be monitoring this closely, and will continue to coordinate my efforts with Delegate Hugo and Supervisor Candland.  But let me be clear – I oppose the overground lines in the Rural Crescent and will do everything I can to stop it!

It is my honor and privilege to serve my friends and neighbors of the 87th District in the Virginia House of Delegates. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me know. While in Richmond, I can be reached at 804-698-1087 or by email at: DelDRamadan@House.Virginia.Gov

Sincerely,

sig
