Supervisor Jeanine Lawson: SCC Orders New Proceedings

WOW!  In an unprecedented move, the State Corporation Commission (SCC), who regulates Dominion Power, issued an order to open new proceedings regarding the Haymarket Transmission Lines.  Essentially the order calls for the Hearing Examiner to consider additional evidence on the need for the new lines and the proposed routes.

Several important factors have contributed to this new order.  I, along with the unanimous support of the Board, refused to grant Dominion access through County owned easements on the Carver and Railroad Routes.*  Just as important, the Coalition to Protect Prince William County and Somerset Crossing HOA both filed for reconsideration calling into question the NEED for the transmission line.  You may read the SCC’s new order here.

I owe a huge thank you to the Coalition, Somerset Crossing, and my fellow board members!  I am grateful to all who remain engaged and continue to work together.  This is a victory and another step in the right direction to protect our community.  I will be sure to keep you informed as we follow these new proceedings. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office.

 Sincerely,

 Jeanine
