Derecho: The Imperial Clown Show, the Best Legislature Money can Buy

Derecho Blogspot

For those who haven’t been following the issue closely, this morning the House of Delegates passed Del. Habeeb’s bill HB 1766.  The vote was as follows:

House: VOTE: PASSAGE (67-Y 30-N 1-A)

YEAS–Albo, Bagby, Bell, Robert B., Bloxom, Bulova, Byron, Campbell, Carr, Cline, Cox, Davis, Edmunds, Fariss, Filler-Corn, Fowler, Garrett, Gilbert, Greason, Habeeb, Head, Helsel, Heretick, Herring, Hodges, Holcomb, Hope, James, Jones, Keam, Kilgore, Knight, Kory, Krizek, Landes, Leftwich, Levine, Lindsey, Lopez, Loupassi, Marshall, D.W., Massie, McQuinn, Miller, Miyares, Morefield, Murphy, O’Bannon, Orrock, Plum, Poindexter, Price, Robinson, Rush, Sickles, Simon, Stolle, Sullivan, Toscano, Tyler, Villanueva, Ward, Ware, Watts, Wilt, Yancey, Yost, Mr. Speaker–67.

NAYS–Adams, Aird, Anderson, Bell, John J., Bell, Richard P., Boysko, Cole, Collins, Dudenhefer, Freitas, Hayes, Hester, Hugo, Ingram, LaRock, LeMunyon, Lingamfelter, Marshall, R.G., Minchew, Morris, Mullin, O’Quinn, Peace, Pillion, Pogge, Ransone, Rasoul, Torian, Webert, Wright–30.

ABSTENTIONS–Farrell–1.

NOT VOTING–Austin–1.

Curiously, but not surprisingly, among the YEAS were Delegates Greason and Miller who once again parted with their fellow Prince William and Loudoun Delegates (Anderson, Bell, Dudenhefer, Hugo, LaRock, Lemunyon, Lingamfelter, Marshall, Minchew and Torian) in order to support Dominion Power and shaft their own constituents.  This is merely the latest chapter in what is a growing log of legislative misdeeds.

More interesting however was the breakdown of campaign contributions to those that voted Yea and those that voted Nay.

The 67 members who voted Yea have collected a total of $1,081,950 for an average of $16,149 per vote.  Conversely, the 30 members who voted Nay have collected a total of $234,403 for an average of $7,813 per vote.  I guess its true that money talks and bullshit walks.

For the viewers edification, I present a list of the Yea votes with their Dominion campaign contribution totals in descending order:

  1. We don’t need these lines in our development. It will rune our property values that we have worked so hard to have.
