Subject: RE: SCC Meetings on the Haymarket Power Line Project

The Commission did receive your letter which included the signatures of other legislators and it was made part of the case file the same day of receipt, Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

The company’s application was received on November 6, 2015, in which the application cited an in-service need date of June 2018 with an estimated construction time of 12 months.

Prior to the date of the application, the Commission had already begun receiving letters from area residents regarding this project.

After receiving the application, the Commission began seeking an available facility for local public hearings that could handle the expected large community of interest. Based on experience, it is difficult to arrange and receive approval to use a Northern Virginia high school auditorium while school is still in session.

The Commission elected to choose the soonest dates available while also attempting to accommodate your request by picking at least one date after the scheduled end of the 2016 General Assembly session.

And, there is also the opportunity to appear at the Richmond hearing on May 10, which should also be a time when the General Assembly is not in session.

Now that the February 24 and March 14 local hearing dates have been announced, if desired, you can request a third date for a local hearing.

It would be best to submit that request in the form of a motion that becomes part of the case file. This makes the request available to all interested parties.
