Nov. 5, 2015 – Dominion Power Notice to PW Supervisors Concerning Preferred Route…

On behalf of Dominion Virginia Power, I would like to inform you that we have completed the routing study for the Haymarket 230kV Transmission Line and Substation Project. We appreciate your engagement over the last several months as we have worked to complete our analysis.

After extensive review, we plan to file the I-66 overhead route (the dark blue route as shown on our recent maps), as our proposed route.

The company chose the overhead route parallel to Interstate 66 as its proposed route because it provides an opportunity to maximize co-location with existing infrastructure (primarily I-66), presents a reasonable cost compared to the other alternative routes, and takes the shortest and most direct route available to the proposed Haymarket Substation.

We are scheduled to file our application on Friday, November 6. The filing is a public document and will be posted to the Haymarket page on dom.com tomorrow once it has been submitted to the State Corporation Commission (SCC).

As previously communicated, filing our application with the SCC will represent the official start of the regulatory review process. Going forward, there will be several opportunities for public input as the SCC evaluates Dominion’s application. I would also like to point out that the I-66 Overhead/Underground “Hybrid” Route is included as an alternative in our application.

Official route maps and further details will be available upon filing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact a member of Dominion’s Government Affairs team.

Thank you,

Greg Mathe
